German Language Program

We believe that strengthening your German language ability is the best path towards ensuring a successful experience abroad.

JYM provides German language instruction throughout the entire year:

• During the Orientation programs, language training is provided to assist you as you settle into your new home-away-from-home and get to know Munich.

Advanced German Language (JY 310/320) are required courses each semester

Phonetik und Aussprachetraining (JY 321/322) are offered each semester so that you can continually improve your pronounciation

• JYM students are encouraged to prepare for the Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer Studienbewerber (DSH) while they are in Munich. The DSH is valuable certification of advanced German language proficiency, and can be used for subsequent admission to any German university, or as proof of language proficiency which may be required for fellowship applications and/or employment after graduation.
