Goethe Haus Michigan

October 2003 Newsletter
(WORD doc)

In January 2003, the GOETHE HAUS MICHIGAN was founded to help promote the German language and culture in Michigan and to bridge the gap left by the simultaneous closing of the Goethe Institut Ann Arbor and the German Consulate General Detroit in December 1999. Working closely together with the Goethe Institut / InterNationes Chicago and the International Center in Bloomfield, this new non-profit organisation will bring cultural events to the Metro Detroit area and offer continuing education programs, i.e. workshops for German teachers and students. Plans for the future also include providing a library with cultural and documentary audiovisual material and books to teachers, students and friends of the German language and culture. The Goethe Haus Michigan thanks its sponsor, the International Center at the International Academy in Bloomfield for all its support.

Goethe Haus Michigan welcomes new members and volunteers! Anyone interested in joining can contact Jutta Bergfeld by phone at (248) 539-0207 or e-mail at juttab@earthlink.net
